New Age Wackos
  • New age, other whatevers... - The first of a two-part message. According to the writer, I'm ignorant about all this new age stuff, with the exception of rumours, stories, and cheesy ads. Whoops! Rumours, stories, and cheesy ads is about all there is to the new age movement.
  • Stop generalizing and let people be - Here's a message from someone who believes in aromatherapy. What's odd about this letter is while he's busy defending this particular new age belief, he knocks other new age beliefs, the AMA, and then calls the psychiatric profession a "scam". (He may have a valid point about psychiatry.)
  • Elizabeth and CUT - It took me awhile to figure out who "Mother" is. Then I realized it was in reference to Elizabeth Claire Prophet, leader of the doomsday cult Church Universal and Triumphant. I can't deem this a hate letter, because the person writing it is obviously taken by Prophet's teachings. I simply feel quite sorry for this poor soul, and hope everything turns out OK.
  • ignorance - More joy from a follower of Elizabeth Claire Prophet's "Church Universal and Triumphant" (CUT). This particular fan of CUT ended the message with a curt "PS Don't bother replying". I couldn't resist a follow-up by asking, "Does Elizabeth like applesauce?"
  • (no subject) - Sensitive, caring New Agers strike again. This letter contains the usual litany of complaints: I am ignorant, I am doomed, my web page is pathetic. OK, so maybe my web page isn't the greatest.
  • new age - This particular new ager wants me to leave other new agers alone. Since the only way people can read the New Age Wackos site is by intentionally visiting it, perhaps the writer feels that new agers are like moths drawn to a light, unable to resist its power. And did you know new age was "scientific"? Me neither.
  • Wakkos - New Agers strike again. It's amazing that so many new agers are irony-impaired. I point out how kooky and intolerant new age superstitions can be. New agers don't like this, so they accuse me of being intolerant, then launch into a tirade on other, more established religions. (Attention Jews: Did you know you pray funny?)
  • (no subject) - Fairies, dragons, unicorns, and angels exist. Poor kid.
  • Are you Crazy - Another literate response concerning my New Age Wackos page.
  • (no subject) - I have never, ever, accused new agers of being cooks.
  • These lies must sop, you are a fool! - I bizarre, long-winded new age rant. It may be a parody of new age kookiness, but I'm not sure.
